Kingston Jamaica: It will be a great evening of Jamaican music on Saturday, July 4, 2015,  when the ten finalists in the 2015 Jamaica Festival Song Competition face-off for their song to be selected as the musical backdrop for this year’s Emancipation and Independence Festival celebration. The grand final will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, 36 Hope Road, Kingston 10 starting at 8:00 p.m. This event is organized by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), an agency of the Ministry of Youth & Culture.

Special guest artiste will be multiple-time Jamaica Festival Song Competition winner, Roy Rayon and Emcee will be Markland “Action” Edwards and Burger Man. Tickets are available at Sangster’s Book Store (Sovereign, King’s Street, Portmore Mall and Mall Plaza, Half Way Tree), the JCDC Head Office and online, www.jcdcjamaica.com. Adults can access tickets at a cost of $800 pre-sold, $1000 at the gate and children $400.

The Jamaica Festival Song Competition is one of the longest song competitions in Jamaica that continues to unearth and showcase several talented individuals each year. This competition which started in 1966 has been the driving force behind some of Jamaica’s acclaimed singers, song writers and producers. The Competition aims to identify a new and original song that is reflective of the spirit of the Jamaican people.

The Jamaica Festival Song is sponsored by the CHASE Fund, Tourism Enhancement Fund, Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation, the Jamaica Music Society, CVM TV, Fyah, IRIE FM, ZIP 103 FM, Kool 93 FM and Mello FM.
